The PTS2-8 unit is intended especially for measuring, monitoring, recording and analyzing of different types of analogue signals. Different physical quantities can be measured after connecting suitable convertors. The basis is a measuring unit which enables connection of maximum 8 external signals to the control computer, class PC – desktop, industrial, laptop – by means of standard serial interface USB. The application does not demand any special computer hardware, configuration securing reliable function of the Windows 7 operation system is sufficient. Display is optimized for screen definition 1024x768 pixels. Computer is not a part of delivery!
External sensors with the output voltage max. 10V or 4-20mA and power supply voltage 24V/12Vss can be connected to the instrument. The range and accuracy of measuring depends especially on the used sensors. Conversion of analogue signal to digital is realized by 16-bite (or 15-bite + sign) convertor. An integral part of the set is the software system. The control program is a made-to-order application for measuring, processing, evaluation, presentation and archiving of the results, including all necessary calibration routines. This program is created in the Control Web 8 environment which works under the operation systems Windows 7 or newer. The software is organized as a system of denominated tasks in which the user prepares and stores all settings and then selects single variations of measuring by a simple choice from the menu. The measured and stored data can be processed by means of other applications, eg. Excel, etc. The software system is available in Czech and English.
The PTS2-8 unit is constructed as
a separate sturdy aluminium case with the dimensions 120x105x30 mm with the total weight ca. 360 g. The construction corresponds with the assumed use in common laboratory and also industrial environment without meteorological influence. All measuring and power supply circuits are situated in this case. It is connected with the control computer by a standard serial USB cable. Single input signals are connected through precise miniature arrested connectors Binder on the back panel or it is possible to supply the instrument with a double-row connector Cannon 25. Power supply of the whole measuring part and also used convertors is realized directly from the USB port of the computer and it is modified to the standard value 24V/12V by means of a switched supply. This solution enables feeding the whole measuring set from the laptop battery. The output power supply voltage for the convertors is galvanicly separated from the USB port of the computer, but all measuring inputs work with common earth. For the case that the total supply current of the connected external convertors exceeds the permitted value or if it necessary to supply these convertors with different voltage, the unit is equipped with a connector for connection of an external supply with direct-current supply voltage. This input is not protected by any internal protection and it is up to the user to use a suitable supply. The instrument does not have any controls and is ready for use after plugging in the USB connector to the computer.
All inputs are equipped with protections against overload. All measuring inputs can be software calibrated by means of routines which are accessible from the program itself.
