Instructions for use
Before the measuring is started, we check thoroughly whether the pressure range of the chosen pressure probe corresponds with the measured pressure. Even a short-time overload over the permitted level can cause destruction of the measuring membrane! If we are not sure, we will use a probe with a higher pressure range. With non-standard media, we check the material resistance – stainless steel class 17.348, corundum ceramics and sealing Viton. CAUTION!!! Pressure probes with the range 10 kPa can be used only for non-aggressive media because it uses a silicon membrane!!! If necessary, contact the producer.
Before mounting, the pressure probe is connected to the DMU-S measuring module by means of a connector. Start up the instrument by pressing the “ON-OFF” button. After a short settling of the measuring circuits, reset the data. When zero pressure is secured on the input, the resetting routine is started up by pressing the “NUL” button. This process lasts for several seconds and its course is indicated by flashing of all decimal points. Never start up resetting during measuring! In case of insufficient voltage of the battery, the sign “LO BAT” will appear on the display. In such a situation the battery must be changed because it could cause distortion of the measured results. After the battery is changed, always switch on and off the instrument using the “ON-OFF” button and reset the instrument.
After that take off the connector and screw the probe to the measured place. We recommend using flat aluminium sealing or sealing for repeated use with two “O” rings. If you use sealing by means of Teflon tape, never screw the probe into closed volume of liquid, eg. a filled welded-on piece behind a cock, etc. The pressure increases uncontrollably by compressing the liquid and can easily cause destruction of the measuring membrane! The probe must be tightened only with a side spanner, size 27. After the probe is mounted, connect the connector again and the instrument is ready for measuring.
If you need to switch on time filtration of the measured signal, you must hold the “NUL” button with the instrument switched off and switch of the instrument by pressing the “ON-OFF” button. The operation of the filter is signalized by a flashing colon between the second and third figure on the display. Cancelling of this function is made by repeated switching off and on of the instrument without holding the “NUL” button.
If the DMU-T instrument is equipped with an analogue output, it is necessary to connect it with a data recorder or the converter card of the computer. The input resistance of the follow-up device should be higher than 10 kohm. The output is resistant against permanent short-circuit.
